Shame is not the same as any other sin or wound or trauma. Shame was there in the garden of Eden. Why is that? Satan knows it disfigures our soul. Shame causes us to believe we are a perverted person at the core. It steals our identity. Adam and Eve hid themselves. We hide ourselves too. We don’t let others see us or know us. We look out only for ourselves because we are obsessed with covering up. Who will find out how shameful I am?
We seek to be told we are honored and cherished, but when
others try, we can’t receive it.
So, what happens when we say, Yes, I want out of the
prison of shame! Rescue me! I release this shame!
God rebuilds us. The shame is dislodged from our soul and
God brings to light what He intended when He first created us. He reveals what
has been lying dormant. He waters the seeds. He shines His light for new growth.
He restates that we belong to Him forever. We are in covenant with Almighty
God! He will never reject us. He will never leave us. We know we are wanted!
He places on us the banner of honor. He
transforms our mind. He causes us to rejoice and dance and forget our shameful
youth. The past is not important anymore. We press on to find courage to be
what we are intended to be.
We are remade through the miracle of surrender to God. It
becomes clearer every day.
