Conform. Perform. Reform.

Do we feel others constantly expect those things from us?

Many of us have lived our life believing ourselves a victim.  We believe that others want to change us. It has felt like most people are trying to take from us. They have ulterior motives. Motives of expectation. They want us to make them look good. They want us to agree with their agenda. They want us to give of our time and energy to further their goals and desires.

It hasn't felt like others appreciate who we are.

This is what drove us to the addiction. We tried to escape the expectations of others by hiding in an addiction. That didn’t work. People then decided we were incapable and needed their intervention all the more.

Those of us who have lived with this belief that we must constantly please others need help. Our only hope is to be transformed by God. He is able. He is willing, and He gets it. He brings counsel and healing through Himself and through others. He brings healthy relationships into our lives. God has good - not evil planned for us. He believes we have overcome because He has overcome. He believers we are capable because He is capable in us. He believes we are valuable - just as we are.
